Tindzaba Consulting is an executive coaching, leadership development and conflict transformation agency in South Africa. We work with businesses in the field of leadership development by offering coaching interventions, one-on-one training, and team and group coaching. We can design and facilitate events of all sizes – from a small working group of 2 to 30 people, to a large public meeting of 150 to 10,000 people.
Our story
Tindzaba is the Swazi plural for ‘indzaba’, which describes an important gathering of Nguni (broadly defined as Swazi, Xhosa and Zulu) people of South Africa. Indzaba may be guided by traditional leaders of a particular community, or be held with representatives of other communities. Indzaba refers to the real matter or the real issue at hand. It’s quite common to hear the Nguni people of South Africa saying, “Indzaba egudwini” – meaning the ‘topical matter at hand’.
An indzaba is often held to find a resolution when there is tension over differences in values, relationship problems, data problems, structural problems and substantive needs. Elders will call for an indzaba to save a situation from having negative consequences.
We promote tindzaba as an important and emerging method of facilitation, as it’s a versatile and successful process of communication. It offers unlimited possibilities for transforming the manner in which we communicate and share knowledge. It has the potential to resolve differences and clashes of interest between individuals, organisations, and communities. Various dialogue models and techniques are used worldwide – affecting the lives of people, workplaces and society in general.
